Gigi and Pappy (Roger's parents) recently opened a Shipley Donuts in Austin, and they had their grand opening celebration last weekend. The boys and I were really excited to go and see the new shop, and of course, eat our fill of yummy donuts and kolaches! The plan was to drive up to Austin after the boys finished with school, spend the night at Gigi's and Pappy's apartment, and be at the opening the next morning. Our plans changed a bit (for the better) when we found out Roger was going to have the weekend off! Hooray! His first day off in a month.
We headed up to Austin pretty late on Friday night. The kids slept almost the entire way, which was great since Roger and I got to actually have a conversation without one of us falling asleep. :) We made it to the apartment around 10 that night, visited a bit, then everyone was off to bed. We were up the next morning and at the donut shop around 8:30. The kids could not wait and were super excited about it! Gigi even had some Shipley shirts made for the boys so they would look "official." Too precious!
The store looks fantastic! We were able to get a tour, see the equipment, and sample some goodies. It was so great to celebrate with family and friends, and we are so happy and excited for Gigi and Pappy! We can't wait to go back again soon!
First things first, the boys got their donut holes and chocolate milk! Breakfast of champions.

Yum!
So excited that Daddy got to come along! Here is Barrett with his Daddy, donuts, and a balloon. What more could a kid want??

Hunter was Pappy's shadow all day. Pappy had to carry him around pretty much the entire morning, but I don't think he minded. Here are Hunter, Pappy, and Uncle Matt in the kitchen.
Barrett loved looking at all of the different equipment in the kitchen. I think his favorite was the sheeter, which is the machine that cuts all the donuts and donuts holes out of the dough. Aunt Avery gave him the rundown on what every machine did. Here they are in front of the fryer for the cake donuts.

Oh what a great post! That one with Barrett, Daddy, a baloon and donuts is too cute, that is all a boy wants, huh? : ) Oh and that product placement one is great, they should use that pic for an add!
