Swim Lesson Update!

Barrett has been doing an amazing job at swim lessons lately! So well, in fact, that his teacher thought it was time for him to do the dreaded "Float Test." This is a series of 3 days when the teacher takes Barrett, tosses him in the water, and he either has to float for 5 minutes or somehow make his way to the side of the pool. For the first test, he had to wear a t-shirt, shorts, and shoes. He wore a t-shirt, pants, and shoes for the second. The third test required a long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, socks, and shoes. Once the test is completed, Barrett knew he would get a new t-shirt and a spiffy bell. He was incredibly excited about it, especially because he saw a few of his friends go through the process and get their bells.

Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck watching the float test every morning of swim. It's so hard to stand behind a glass window and watch someone throw your child in a pool that is too deep for them to stand in. There was no need to worry, though. He did a great job every time! He always made it to the side before the 5 minutes was up, and he was so proud of himself!

And, best of all, look who got to sneak away from the hospital to come watch the last float test! I'm not sure who was more excited, Barrett or Daddy! Roger got to see the float test and the rest of B's lesson. It was such a great surprise!
