A Trip to the Zoo

With Mother's Day Out starting soon, we decided to take a trip to the zoo to celebrate the end of our summer. It was my first time taking both boys to the zoo, but our wonderful friends the LeRouaxs came with us (it was nice to have another mommy to help watch all the kids!). Emily and I were a little nervous because there was a chance of rain, but it ended up being a nice day. We packed up snacks and some picnic lunches and went on our way. It wasn't very hot or crowded at all! Barrett was so excited to see a lot of his favorite animals and tell me the sounds they made. We saw monkeys, lions, bears, sea lions, and meerkats.

Barrett decided to pull his wagon instead of riding in it. He worked up quite a sweat! He walked almost the entire time we were at the zoo.

Hunter's favorite part of the zoo was the aquarium. He kicked his legs like crazy while he was watching the fish swim around. Here we are in front of one of the bigger fish tanks.

After the zoo, we took the boys for a train ride around Hermann Park. The boys couldn't wait for the train to get started! Barrett loved this, and he wanted to go for a second ride. Hunter fell asleep about halfway through the ride. I guess the motion calmed him down!

We ate our picnic lunches and the big boys got to run around and chase each other. Barrett was playing so hard that he dropped his sandwich in the dirt, but he wasn't too upset because he was able to feed it to the ducks at the pond--who knew ducks like peanut butter and jelly?

It was a wonderful day! We can't wait to go again soon.
